The Top Three Podcasts For Business Women

Our world as we know it is changing more and more everyday.

COVID-19 has not only terrified us, but is also causing our economy to crash and therefore our businesses are slowing down now more than ever, which is why now is a great time to start listening to podcasts and reading more.

Staying home doesn’t have to be so boring when you have a whole variety of podcasts! If you are a business woman who is trying to learn more and grow, podcasts are a trend you will definitely want to be a part of.

I’ve been a fan of listening to podcasts for a while now, but ever since I quit my full-time and went into business for myself, I’ve started to listen to so many empowered women entrepreneurs. Here are my top three favorite podcasts and the value you will get from each one.

1)    Goal Digger

By far, my favorite podcast!Jenna Kutcher is the person you want cheering you on and showing you how to start your next adventure.  She is a digital marketing expert that gives you the BEST mini-marketing training and real-life examples of how to be a badass in whatever career you choose. This is for all the creative girl bosses out there who want to dig in, do the work, and tackle their biggest goals.

The best part is that she brings the most inspiring and powerful women to the show, and they talk about EVERYTHING from starting your own business to making career changes while raising kids.

My favorite episode is #137- How to Balance being Multi-Passionate. It’s perfect for the person that wants to do it all but feels overwhelmed. Let me tell you, girl, it is all possible, it’s all about BALANCE!

2)    The Courtney Saunders Podcast

I got introduced to Courtney Saunders through a friend who is part of her mastermind group. I love her energy, honesty, and the fact that she keeps it 100% real. She is an empowerment coach who touches on entrepreneurship, lifestyle, finances, personal growth, and spirituality. It can’t get any better than that, you guys!

My favorite episode is #87- How to Stop Playing Small. It’s a readout from a conference Courtney went to in 2019. Her message will leave you questioning where in your life are you playing small and where you can push yourself bigger. Remember how you show up in one area of your life is pretty much the same way you show up everywhere else.

3)    The Marie Forleo Podcast

I love love, love Marie Forleo! I love her story, the way she pushes women to follow their dreams, and how she can easily relate to everyone. Plus, she does these cool voices, which always crack me up! Her motto for life is Everything is Figureoutable, and she wrote a best-selling book called just that in 2019.

Named by Oprah as a thought leader for the next generation, her goal is to help you become the person you most want to be, and she gets the job DONE! Every episode leaves me feeling inspired and fired up to conquer my fears, grow stronger and more confident in my field and keep pushing through the hurdles of owning my own business while still taking care of my family.

My favorite episode is episode 286- Control Freak? How to Delegate like a PRO in 5 steps!

It hit home for me as a new entrepreneur and a busy mom of three. I had to learn how to give up some of my work, so I wasn’t all over the place ALL THE TIME! Marie helped me see the light, and I have to say, outsourcing some of the work and easing up from always being in control gave me such a relief!

I hope this blog helps you or someone you know. If you’re just starting in the business world, or you’re a seasoned entrepreneur, there is something for you in each of these podcasts!

As always, I’d love to hear from you. What podcasts are you listening to now? Let’s all share the knowledge and grow together!

8 Exercises To Build Your Strongest Upper Body

How many of us want to wave at our friends and family but don’t because of that annoying fat we have underneath our arms? Ok that’s a little extreme lol but how about we won’t wear that cute tank top we bought 2 summers ago, because our arms or shoulders look a certain way?

This spring/summer let’s change things around and work our way towards having the strongest upper body possible and feeling amazing in the process! To sculpt a strong upper body, we have to work on our arms, shoulders, chest, and back. Typically, it’s best to break the workouts into two days:

1)    Biceps and Back

2)    Chest and Triceps

Both days will also incorporate shoulder workouts. My favorite way to do upper body exercises is by super-setting the workout.

superset is a form of strength training that has you moving quickly from one exercise to the next exercise without taking a break (or resting) between the two movements. So, a great workout for me on Biceps and Back day would look like this:

I do the first two exercises 12 times each (also known as reps), then rest for 20 seconds, and go into the next two exercises. Do the entire workout 3 times (also known as sets).

3 sets of 12 reps
–       Bicep Curls
Start Position
End Position
–       Bent Over Rows
Start Position
End Position

REST

–       Lateral Raises (for your shoulders)
Feel free to do this exercise without weights
–       Arnold Press (for your shoulders)
Start Position
Middle Position
End Position

REST

Now that you kind of got the idea of how super-setting your workouts go, you can incorporate the same concept for your Chest and Triceps day. Always remember to include a shoulder workout in between the sets. Here are my favorite chest and triceps workouts.

3 sets of 12 reps
–       Push Up (wall, knee or full push up)
Start Position- Feel free to do your pushups on the wall, your knees, your in full form
End Position
–       Chair Dips
Start Position
End Position

REST

–       Front Raises (shoulders)
Start Position
End Position
–       Upright Rows (shoulders)
Start Position
End Position

REST

It’s always a good idea to take a rest day or work on your legs/cardio/abs between your two upper body workout days. This way you are giving your muscles the break they need to grow.

Life And Love Advice

Ladies, it’s Women’s History Month! A month dedicated to US! So, woman to woman, I want to share some great life and love advice that has helped me throughout the years. Now I’m no expert at love, in fact I have been known to make a lot of mistakes, and I’ve learned from each one of them. So in honor of Women’s History Month and the simple fact that knowledge is power, I’m going to share some of my personal favorite life and love advice to save you from making the same mistakes I did.

1)    Know your WORTH

Life has a funny way of teaching us this lesson over and over again. Society will try to keep you at a certain level, so unless you fight for yourself and understand just how powerful you are, you won’t be able to succeed in anything you do. THIS IS A POWERFUL LESSON! Take it into consideration, even in your relationship. Know what you will tolerate and what you won’t. Respect goes a long way when your significant other understands your stand on certain things.

 2)    Will it Matter in 5 Years?

Man, I wish I knew all about this thought process years ago, it would have saved me from so much drama and gotten me to so many places by now. The theory goes two ways:

a) When you’re going through a hard time in your relationship, ask yourself if the fight will matter in 5 years. If it will, then fight for what you believe in, however, if it won’t (for example, if you are fighting over why he didn’t clean up the kitchen before you got home, or something else along those lines- let it GO.) No use in stressing and arguing over something that won’t affect your lives down the line.

b)    When an opportunity knocks, and you get nervous or when you get too comfortable at work/marriage/life, in general, ask yourself if making certain scary changes will affect your life in 5 years. Often the answer will be YES; use that assurance to make the necessary changes and better your life. I love this exercise because it weeds out the tedious stuff so I can be productive every day and bring change to my life.

3)    Pray for your Partner and Family Daily

My faith is what has kept me going during these recent months, and it’s what I turn to during all the good and bad times.

The bible verse “If God is for me, who can be against me” is REAL you guys! Bini and I don’t always see eye-to-eye, but I promise you, after every argument, when I prayed about it, I instantly felt better each time. Pray that your partner understands your point of view and that you understand his. Pray that you always stay strong together, that God keeps him healthy and that your love withstands all trials.

 4)    Have Fun Together

Okay, so for all my seasoned lovers, I know it can be hard to always have fun with our spouses. The romance isn’t as fresh as it used to be and now children and careers have been added to the mix.  Having fun is not only needed, ladies, it’s actually essential to a healthy marriage. I mean, think about it…if you and your spouse only talk about the “boring” things in life like finances, careers, and who will take the kids to what, then how on earth can you expect your marriage to flourish? No, there needs to be time set aside where you two can simply be you two again. I read this in a book my friends, and I are reading together called “Our Best Us- Marriage is Easier than you Think” by TedLowe (a must-read for all my married readers out there).

In his book, Ted says that having fun together is one of the most important things to do as a couple because it adds value not only to your relationship but to your peace of mind as well.

5)    Work Towards a Common Goal

This statement brings me so much happiness and can be anything from saving for a trip or doing something together as a couple. Bini and I love working out together, and we are currently working towards our wellness goals as a couple. It works perfectly because we can hold each other accountable. Find something that will benefit both of you and set out to achieve it together. This will bring you closer as a couple as well.

I hope today’s blog helps you or someone you know. As always, I’d love to hear from you. Please share some of your favorite advice that has worked for you in your life and marriage in the comments section below.
